School Nature Club (KPA)

Through the ex-situ approach, the MNS School Nature Club (Kelab Pencinta Alam, KPA) was established in August 1991 with seed funding from a private company and in collaboration with the Ministry of Education, Malaysia. It began with a pioneer group of 12 schools throughout the Klang Valley and today, its membership stands at 318 schools from all over Malaysia. The KPA programme aims to encourage interest, understanding and involvement in various environmental activities and conservation efforts amongst the school-going generation.

To widen our outreach activities, MNS Education Coordinators are appointed at state level to organize programmes and activities for KPA in their respective states. These state Education Coordinators have been the catalyst in the expansion of KPA. They keep strengthening the link between the schools, Education Department and MNS. At a national level, zonal nature camps, workshops, competitions and special projects are held.

Among some of the special programmes held for KPA are:

– National Teachers Workshop

– KPA camp and workshop

– KPA Award

– Conserve Our Wetlands Project

– School River Basin & Water Quality Monitoring

– Peat Swamp Study

– Research & Adoption Programme

– Raptor Watch

– Festival of Wings and many more.
