Kota Damansara - COMPLETED

The Kota Damansara Community Forest Park spans 850 acres and is located alongside the North South Highway opposite Jalan Duta exit. The forest park was originally known as the Sg. Buloh Forest Reserve which was gazetted in 1898, making it the oldest forest reserve in Malaysia. Back then, the forest was a staggering 4,000 acres but in 1990, the area was demarcated to make way for housing development projects.

When the local Residents Association realized what damage this might to do the area’s forest heritage, they formed Friends of Kota Damansara in hopes of creating a community forest. MNS and Friends of Kota Damansara worked together in getting the area re-gazetted and succeeded in getting the Selangor state government to officially announce that the area will not be further developed.
